£3000 Commission for a MURAL at Brighton Velodrome

The council is looking for a Brighton & Hove based artist, or group of artists, to create a new mural at Brighton Velodrome, in Preston Park .

This will make use of all 12 metal corrugated panels. This fence faces into the velodrome, behind a spectators stand.

We would like:

  • the creative lead to work with residents and users of the velodrome as part of the process.
  • to represent Brighton & Hove’s diversity throughout community participation and celebration in the final imagery
  • a mural that welcomes and celebrates all in sport.

    • Possible themes :

  • Velodrome: past, present, future
  • Cycling, cricket and sport is for everyone
  • Open to your ideas

    • Submission:

    Send us no more than 2 x A4 page equivalent and tell us:

  • about yourself and relevant experience
  • How you would approach the project and involving people
  • If you have any existing connections with local groups, you would like to work with
  • Include no more than 3 images of your work
  • If you wish to send us any preliminary designs, but this is not essential

    • The short-listing panel will include a local Preston Park ward Councillor plus residents involved in the cricket club, Friends of Preston Park, and user groups of the velodrome.
